Marvel may have just introduced Kang the Conqueror as their newest villain, but Superman star Henry Cavill could be the next hero set to challenge him.
According to HypeBeast:
“Cavill reportedly visited Marvel’s offices in London and was very keen to meet people ‘face-to-face’ potentially to discuss joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cavill was ‘flanked by a number of people,’ presumed to be part of his team that oversees his career. It is currently unclear what exactly the visit was regarding but could mark the beginnings of Henry Cavill retiring his Superman cape.”

Marvel has not confirmed this reported meeting with Cavill, nor any future involvement with the actor. However, with Loki and WandaVision shaking up the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future, it would make sense Kevin Feige is looking to expand the list of superheroes as new threats emerge from the Multiverse.
Many fans speculating on the array of Marvel characters that Superman actor Henry Cavill could portray in the MCU, but the most notable are Adam Warlock or Captain Britain.
With numerous rumors surrounding Marvel’s Avengers and the fifth movie in the Avengers franchise, basically, every Marvel fan would be fine seeing Cavill enter the MCU as one of the earth’s mightiest heroes in an upcoming Marvel movie.
More on Henry Cavill’s Super Roles
Herny Cavill (Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Mission Impossible: Fallout) made a breakthrough in Hollywood as Clark Kent/Superman in director Zack Snyder’s highly acclaimed Man of Steel (2013). Kicking off the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) with a slew of new actors and stories, Cavill helped usher in the next era of DC movies after Christopher Nolan’s knockout The Dark Knight trilogy.
Cavill has played the role of Superman for nearly a decade, and along the way, has gained a massive following. Like many other superheroes, Superman has seen numerous faces portraying the world’s most recognizable hero (other than Spider-Man). While Zack Snyder has received (unnecessary) backlash for his blockbuster DC movies, Cavill has gained a massive following and fan base.
Hot off the success of his DC movies, Henry Cavill expanded his roles with director Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2014) and Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Fallout (2018). Most recently, Cavill leads the highly acclaimed The Witcher Netflix series, a Highlander reboot, and starred in Enola Holmes (2021) as the latest Sherlock Holmes.
Earlier this month, Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) writer/director announced his latest spy thriller movie, Argyle, starring non-other than Henry Cavill, with Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena, Brian Cranston, and Bryce Dallas Howard in supporting roles.
However, all good things must come to an end. Earlier this year, numerous reports suggested that Warner Bros. and DC were in talks of replacing Cavill as Superman. It looks as though DC has no upcoming plans for new standalone Kal-El (AKA Superman) films. With director Zack Snyder’s future DC universe starring Cavill seemingly scrapped from Warner Bros., many fans fear that Henry Cavill’s Superman tenure is unnecessarily coming to a close.
The actor has stated that “the cape is in the closet… I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do,” according to Empire.
So, while DC is sleeping on Henry Cavill’s future involvement with their super hero movies, Marvel reportedly swooped in to discuss his new future in the MCU.
Marvel isn’t afraid of bringing actors from DC hero movies over to their expanding Marvel Universe. James Gunn made the official jump to DC with his upcoming The Suicide Squad (2021) after he was fired from Marvel, but he and other actors like Idris Elba (Thor), Hugo Weaving (Captain America: The First Avenger), and Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame, Deadpool 2) go between the two powerhouse studios with no issues.
Bruce Wayne/Batman actor Christian Bale is making his Marvel debut in Taika Waiti’s Thor: Love and Thunder (2023), so Marvel doesn’t shy away from bringing the face of DC movies into their film arsenal.
Henry Cavill’s future with Marvel is bright, so stay tuned for updates surrounding the Superman actor making the jump over to Marvel!
