Filming on Riverdale resumed Wednesday, March 6, after the set of the CW’s series remained dark for two days as cast and crew mourned the death of co-star Luke Perry.  Production on the popular show was suspended the morning of Monday, March 4, shortly after Perry died from complications following a massive stroke.

While the Riverdale family tried to return to normal and focus on filming, Perry was on everyone’s minds.

“Going through pictures on my way to set,” Riverdale developer/executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote on Instagram Wednesday morning next to a group cast photo, featuring Perry, from the series’ early days. “Our heart, always. Tonight’s episode of #Riverdale finds Fred doing what he does best–helping Archie. It is dedicated to Luke, as all episodes will be for the rest of our run.”

Perry played played Archie’s dad Fred Andrews on the series, based on the Archie comics. As Aguirre-Sacasa revealed earlier today, the Wednesday night’s episode of Riverdale — the first since  Perry’s death — honored the actor. It closed with an In Memoriam card dedicated to Perry.

While production was suspended, the writers are believed to have worked on tweaking the scripts for the remaining couple of episodes from Season 3 in the wake of Perry’s passing.
