Captain Marvel Super Bowl Ad Teases Marvel's Next Avenger Brie Larson - Heroic Hollywood

 

Captain Marvel Green LanternA new ad for Captain Marvel teases Brie Larson going higher, further and faster in Marvel’s first-ever female superhero led film set for release this March before she returns in Avengers: Endgame.

Captain Marvel introduces Brie Larson as Marvel’s most powerful superhero, Captain Marvel. Set during the 1990s, the film follows the actress as Carol Danvers, a test pilot in the comics who gained super strength and the ability to fly after being caught in an explosion with a Kree device. Captain Marvel will also feature the debut of The Skrulls, an advanced shapeshifting alien race known for the Kree-Skrull War storyline.

The new ad released during the Super Bowl promoted the film while also showing off a new look at Brie Larson in the role. Check it out below!

Mississipi Grind helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are directing from a script written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve. Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, Clark Gregg and Jude Law. The film is slated to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.

Following her debut in her titular standalone film, Brie Larson will return to face Thanos in April when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.

It seems like yesterday when the beginning of the new year was upon us, and the advent of having so many superhero movies hitting theaters seemed like a dream come true for every fanboy and fangirl. It’s also funny to look back and remember that although we ended up with a whopping nine major theatrical superhero movies, we almost had eleven. Sadly, Fox delayed both Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants to 2019 instead.

Even with those two films delayed, 2018 was still a massive year not just at the box office, but for the continued advancement of the genre on a number of levels. Whether it was through the cultural significance of a film like Black Panther or the exciting animated adventures of Incredibles 2 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, there was no shortage of exciting superhero stories told on the big screen this year.
