In just a few months, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will welcome their first child into this world. This baby boy or girl will join Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three young children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
While all new parents hope they will be the best they can be for their children, the world knows the expecting royal company will make fantastic parents. They’ve shown, time and again, their aptitude towards parenting. How?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle naturally gravitate towards children
During their Australian tour, both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle naturally gravitated towards their littlest fans. They took the time to answer their questions and give out hugs to the children who waited to see them. During these encounters, both expectant parents showed the utmost respect for children, in a way similar to Prince Harry’s dearly departed mother, Princess Diana.
They get down to eye-level
When interacting with children, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle crouch down so they can be at eye-level with them when speaking. This is an important sign of respect towards children, which Prince William and Kate Middleton also practice.
When an adult gets down to a child’s eye-level during a conversation, it shows them you are paying attention to what they have to say. It also helps them to better listen, speak, and understand.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘people persons’
Everyone has their unique personality. Some are introverts; some are extroverts. Some deal well with the public, while others are arguably less adept at doing so. A parenting expert, Anna Williamson, recently commented on images and video of the expectant parents, and what she had to say was great news for their future child.
Williamson said that she believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “will take to their new roles like ducks to water. Like Princess Diana, they are clear ‘people persons,’ and by crouching down…, touching as a friendly gesture, and leaning forward to make eye contact, they make everyone they meet feel valued. The fact they make themselves so accessible to their young fans is preserving that magical image of princes and princesses that many youngsters have.”
They are laid back for royals
Prince William and Kate Middleton have shown themselves to be the epitome of proper Royals. While there is nothing wrong with that, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken a different approach to their lives. Although they do stick to most British Royal Family customs, they often tip-toe the line.
There is evidence that this more laid back approach will be transferred over into their parenting. For starters, the couple has moved away from the spotlight since the birth announcement. Meghan Markle has expressed interest in a home birth or hypnobirthing experience.
Markle is also expecting to work as near to her due date as possible, and many believe she will take an extended leave of absence from her royal duties after her child’s birth. In England, this means she could potentially take a year off.
They want to raise their child “as normal as possible”
There will be no hiding that this baby is a member of the British Royal family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have expressed a desire to raise their child “as normal as possible.”
Their first step in this process was to move away from the spotlight. The two have moved to a different residence so that they will be more out of the public eye. They will also not be giving their child (or future children) any titles. This means the new baby will not be called a prince or princess. Instead, they will simply be allowed to be a child without the weight any future titles might impose.
