Aquaman Earns $28M in First Day at the Domestic Box Office - Batman-News

Aquaman is swimming right alongside its box office tracking. The James Wan film earned $28M in its first day in North America. That total includes $9M from Thursday night showings. This puts Aquaman on pace for $68M for the weekend.

Initial projections had Aquaman reaching $70M to $75M, perhaps even as high as $80M. That the film isn’t keeping up with that pace isn’t necessarily a bad sign. Industry tracking had Aquaman at $65M and that’s what Warner Bros. expects.

If Aquaman comes in at $68M this weekend, that will be a win. It still sets the movie up for $100M or close to it within five days, thanks to the holiday crowds on Monday and Tuesday.

Audiences are saying good things about Aquaman thus far (“A-” CinemaScore). That should give it strong enough legs to continue earning money throughout all of next week and into January.
