The gloves came off when Piers Morgan, Ariana Grande – and even Grande's mom! –went at it Wednesday on Twitter.
Round 1
It all began when Morgan, a British TV personality and former "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant, accused the female pop quartet Little Mix of stealing a photo idea from the Dixie Chicks' famous nude Rolling Stone cover.
On Wednesday, Joan Grande responded to the TV host's Little Mix tweet, asking, "Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it!"
After suggesting that Little Mix was actually paying homage to the Dixie Chicks rather than plagiarizing, the elder Grande wanted to know why Morgan had gone after Ellen DeGeneres a day earlier.
"You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel," Grande chided him.
Grande likely was referring to Morgan saying it was sexist of Degeneres to air a montage of famous men's bodies on International Men's Day.
Round 2
Morgan responded to Grande's mother saying that his own taught him to "speak my mind & never be afraid to express (my) honestly held opinion."
He then argued that Little Mix should use their talent to sell records and not nudity, like Joan's daughter, Ariana does.
Round 3
The pop star was quick to step in, defending both DeGeneres and herself.
"I use my talent and my sexuality all the time because I choose to," Grande tweeted. "Women can be sexual and talented. Naked and Dignified. It's our choice. And we will keep fighting (until) people understand. I say this (with) all due respect but thank u, next."
A few minutes later, Morgan thanked Grande but warned that he'd continue to call out all women who use nudity to sell records.
Round 4
But Grande wasn't finished. She accused Morgan of using remarks about female celebrities to get his own name in the headlines.
"I look forward to the day you realize there are other ways to go about making yourself relevant than to criticize young, beautiful, successful women for everything they do," she wrote. "I think that'll be a beautiful thing for you and your career or what's left of it."
Morgan tweeted back addressing Grande as a "young lady" and saying his career is doing fine and that he criticizes and praises everyone regardless of their gender, including Grande.
"I've written columns praising and criticizing you, and you deserved both," he pointed out.
Round 5
In an attempt to point out Morgan's hypocrisy, Grande quoted an older tweet of Morgan's with a picture of him posing on the ground in front of a fireplace partially naked with a cloth around his waist. He was advertising a new column he'd written.
Grande commented on the tweet saying, "When you do it, it's OK though, right?"
Morgan jokingly asked if the picture was Grande's screensaver. Grande shot back saying, "nah and it ain't your girl's either, I can promise you that." Morgan replied with laughing emojis and "Me think the lady doth protest too much."
Morgan later tried to offer Grande an olive branch in the form of an invitation to appear on his show, "Good Morning Britain," but she didn't bite.
