Kanye West Designs Shirts for 'Blexit' Campaign, Urging Black Voters to Leave Democratic Party

Kanye West has designed a line of apparel for the "Blexit" campaign, which encourages African-American voters to leave the Democratic party.

The line of shirts and hats supporting "Blexit" — a play on words that resembles the moniker for Britain's exit from the European Union — debuted Saturday at Turning Point USA's Young Black Leadership Summit, a event in Washington that was attended by young, African-American conservatives, according to Page Six.

"Blexit is a renaissance, and I am blessed to say that this logo, these colors, were created by my dear friend and fellow superhero Kanye West," Turning Point USA communications director Candace Owens told Page Six.

The rapper "has taken one of the boldest steps in America to open a conversation we have needed to have," Owens added.

West did not attend the event.

The apparel, displays the group's motto, "We Free," or the word "Blexit," and the description of each item reads "Design by Kanye West."

According to its website, Blexit "is a frequency for those who have released themselves from the political orthodoxy. It is a rebellion led by Americans wishing to disrupt the simulation of fear. Blexit is a renaissance. It is our formal declaration of independence."

West has made headlines — and drawn backlash — recently for his meeting with and support of President Trump. He  has worn a hat bearing Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again," many times, including during a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.
